My Favourite Poem

I'm not particularly into poetry... In fact, the only time i've really been exposed to it was during my Leaving Cert English class in school.

I do however, love to be inspired by the written word. I like to be inspired by just about anything mind you.

There is a poem I know. I know it very well. For whatever reason, this poem and I got along very well back in the day. I was reminded of it recently when having a random conversation (one of many) with a Chum of mine.

It's By Robert Frost, and it's called Birches

This is my favourite excerpt from the poem -

I'd like to get away from earth awhile
And then come back to it and begin over.
May no fate willfully misunderstand me
And half grant what I wish and snatch me away
Not to return. Earth's the right place for love:
I don't know where it's likely to go better.
I'd like to go by climbing a birch tree,
And climb black branches up a snow-white trunk
Toward heaven, till the tree could bear no more,
But dipped its top and set me down again.
That would be good both going and coming back.
One could do worse than be a swinger of birches.
